Information Technology (IT) is a fast growing field of industry professionals. Nearly 5.4 million individuals work as technology professionals across the U.S., representing a recent increase of 2.1%, or nearly 110,000 net new jobs. This course will help you determine if this is the field for you. The IT Fundamentals course covers the fundamentals of computer hardware and software and advanced concepts such as security, networking, and the responsibilities of an IT professional. Students who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of a computer, assemble a computer system, and install operating systems. Students will also be able to connect to the Internet and share resources in a networked environment. This course is designed to prepare the student to take the CompTIA ITF+ certification exam. Our Repair It Forward charitable chapter gives students hands-on, real-world experience in rebuilding computers.
