Automotive Technology Theory I & II (2 Concurrent class periods)

Juniors and Seniors

Maximum Capacity: 15 students per class

 Students will be provided with authentic, real-life shop work and automotive shop operations. Students use state-of-the-art computerized diagnostic equipment to enhance the learning process on late model vehicles using “on board” computer control systems. Automotive Technology offers, but is not limited to, the following job opportunities: Auto Service Specialist, Service Manager, and Service Writer. Emphasis is placed on safety in all phases of the coursework. Near the completion of the course, qualified students may be placed in an internship with local businesses.

Prerequisite: Must have Automotive Technology Theory concurrently. In order to return to Automotive Technology Laboratory Experience II, students must pass Automotive Technology Laboratory Experience I with a grade of C- or better. Auto Technology I students must earn a C- or better at the end of 1st semester in order to remain in the class. Due to its limited class size, multiple measures including grades, test scores including the ASVAB, attendance, and discipline history will be considered along with a possible interview for placement into the program.
